New information:As seen in the equation , oxygen(O2) is needed for aerobic respiration , 02 is used as an acceptor in the electron transport chain , which also occurs during anaerobic respiration. However , since O2 is not used during anaerobic respiration , less effective - Meaning smaller reduction potential - acceptors(e.g sulfate,nitrate) are used , which is the reason why less energy is produced during anaerobic respiration.

The sugar molecule glucose has six carbon atoms, twelve hydrogen atoms and six oxygen atoms, so its chemical formula is C6H12O6.
